It is with immense pride that we induct Bill Middleton into the Ridgeland Athletics Hall of Fame. Bill’s contributions to Ridgeland High School were not measured in touchdowns or home runs, but in the foundational work he laid that allowed countless athletes to pursue their passions and build lasting memories. From the beginnings of Ridgeland Athletics until 2012, when dreams of Friday night lights and spirited competitions were just beginning to take shape, Bill Middleton emerged as a steadfast and indispensable figure.

Recognizing the vital role community support plays in a thriving athletic program, Bill, alongside many other dedicated individuals, was instrumental in establishing the RHS Athletic Booster Club. This organization, born from the dedication of people like Bill, became the backbone of early athletic endeavors at Ridgeland. Beyond the crucial task of building an engaged support network, Bill worked tirelessly to bring much-needed athletic facilities to the campus. His vision extended beyond the present, understanding that adequate spaces were essential for the growth and success of future generations of student-athletes.

Bill Middleton is a man of action, readily rolling up his sleeves and tackling any task, no matter how big or small. Whether it was the unglamorous work of setting up tables for events, the bustling energy of managing concessions to raise funds, the meticulous task of lining the football field under the hot sun, or the crucial work of forging partnerships with local businesses to secure financial support—Bill was always present, a reliable force ready to lend a hand wherever it was needed most.

His mission was straightforward: to do whatever was necessary to support the students and ensure that Ridgeland’s athletic program not only started but thrived. Bill Middleton’s unwavering dedication, his tireless efforts, and his selfless commitment to the student-athletes of Ridgeland High School have left a lasting mark. He embodies the spirit of community support and the foundational strength upon which successful athletic programs are built. For his pivotal role in launching Ridgeland Athletics and his enduring legacy of service, we are honored to welcome Bill Middleton into the Ridgeland Athletics Hall of Fame.
